# Capturing photos

> What to shoot, at what resolution, and how to get it into the editor.

## Image requirements

The editor accepts JPG, PNG, and WebP files. Photos from 360° cameras such as Insta360 work without other software.

For a **360° Image**, use an equirectangular photo, the 2:1 format that 360° cameras export.

![A flat 2:1 equirectangular photo of a living room with the curved distortion typical of 360 camera exports](https://mintcdn.com/6ps/0ZnpzyxNroWgfhv1/images/walkthrough/equirectangular-example.webp?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=0ZnpzyxNroWgfhv1\&q=85\&s=efe004ca3823fcab71f2fe8c09140bd1)

Shoot at full resolution. When you publish, Studio scales photos down to 4096 pixels on the longest side and prepares lightweight versions so rooms open quickly.

A **Flat Image** is a regular photo, such as an aerial shot, a floor plan, or a detail. It can hold buttons that link into 360° rooms.

## Adding a photo

Drag an image onto the drop zone that says **Drag & drop a 360° or flat image**, or click it to browse. When the editor asks **What type of image is this?**, choose **360° Image** or **Flat Image**.

To add more rooms, see [Building a tour](https://docs.6ps.si/docs/walkthrough/building-a-tour.md).

> If the tripod shows up in a 360° photo, remove it with [AI room editing](https://docs.6ps.si/docs/walkthrough/ai-room-editing.md).
